On the opening of the Russian Literature Section

On 1 April 2019 the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Brunei Darussalam together with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam launched the Russian Literature Section at the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka Library. The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
In his welcoming remarks the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Brunei Darussalam Mr.Vladlen Semivolos hailed the development of cultural cooperation between the two countries, underscoring the most memorable activities organized by Russia in Brunei Darussalam, emphasized the importance of the opening of the Russian Literature Section in terms of expanding bilateral ties. “I am convinced that this will contribute to further deepening of mutual understanding, strengthening people-to-people relations and will become another important installment in the promotion of cultural cooperation between Russia and Brunei”, he said.
The Embassy donated the collection of Russian classics featuring over 80 books, including greatest works by prominent Russian authors such as Mikhail Bulgakov, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Nikolai Gogol, Maxim Gorky, Anton Chekhov, Aleksandr Pushkin, Leo Tolstoy, Ivan Turgenev.
To mark the opening of the Russian literature section the Ambassador and the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin symbolically put books on the shelves.
The Ambassador presented the books of poems by Alexander Blok and Sergey Yesenin in Russian as well as several Russian-Malay textbooks and Russian-Indonesian dictionaries.
The Embassy launched the hashtag #IReadRussia. The visitors of the Dewan Bahasa and Pustaka Library are encouraged to post their photos from the Russian Literature Section on their social media using the hashtag #IReadRussia and share them with their friends.
